Let's start with Christmas Eve. It's tradition for the Morrills to party at Cory's parents. Every year we have a big meal with all the fixings. This year, I suggested we do soup, thinking that sounds nice and easy. When the men caught wind of that, we almost had a coup. How could we go against tradition! Well, when I threatened them all by telling them the men got to make the entire meal, they conformed and we made soups. Delicious and easy.
Then, we always have Santa come. Isaac was a little scared, but the other boys were more than happy to sit on his lap. Of course, Ammon and Sam told Santa, again, that they wanted everything for Christmas.
We also had did the nativity. It is a little chaotic trying to organize the kids and get them to do their part as the nativity is read from the bible. It's fun trying, though. At least they are learning about the birth of the Savior.
After the nativity, we separated all the gifts. When everyone had their gifts, Grandma says go and all of a sudden there is paper flying everywhere as the kids tear into their gifts. Lots of fun.
After a fun filled day, we headed for home so that Santa could visit.
We also had visitors for Christmas. My little sister brought her 3 darling kids out from Oregon. She spent Christmas Eve night at our house and got to get up with us in the morning to open presents. It made my Christmas having her here. We don't get to see her very often and haven't celebrated Christmas with her in years. Christmas Eve day, Abby and I got to go shopping for them. The fun part about it was, I got to know what it was like to shop for little girls.
Ammon and Sam got to learn that Christmas isn't just about receiving, it's about giving. A few days before Christmas, we took them shopping so they could pick out a toy for each other. When we found out Amberlee was coming, we asked them if they would like to give those gifts to Gabriel instead. They agreed. When it came time to open their presents, they had a hard time giving up those gifts, thinking they should have been for them. Reluctantly, they gave them to Gabe. I guess it will take time.
We had a great Christmas. The boys had fun opening presents and playing with their new toys. We spend most of they day doing that and then went to Mona for dinner with the family at Susie's house.
I have a lot to be grateful for. I'm most grateful that I got to spend this Christmas with my family. I don't know where I would be without them. I think I have the best family you could ever ask for. When it comes down to it, nothing else really matters in life. I could have done without all the gifts and just been content to be with those I love the most.

3 now let's hear it from you:
Family is the best. The whole reason we are here. I am glad that you had a great Christmas.
Glad you could host Amber and her cute little kids. It looks like a lot of fun.
What were you asking Santa for when you sat on his lap?
Word veryify says you asked for setopsy
Looks like you had a nice Christmas! That is nice Amber could be there. Too bad Paul wasn't with her; that must have been a bummer for her to not have hubby around for Christmas, but I guess it was her choice.
I was thinking this Christmas about some of what makes it feel like Christmas that just isn't the same anymore--specifically certain family members who were always there for Christmas growing up, even after they were married and had families of their own because they lived close enough. It has been a long time since I've spent Christmas with them, and yet it still just doesn't seem the same without all the family around. At least this year we had my brother and his family around, but sometimes I miss being a kid! ... Okay, now I am back to reality and really glad I'm not a kid anymore. I feel better now.
Happy New Year! :-)
