Grandpa Max and the boys were watching a Mr. Magoriums Wonder Imporium last night together. My kids have seen it several times. It's a cute, clean, kid friendly movie. Or so I thought. My three year old, Ben, was sitting on my lap. It was the part where Mahoney is playing the piano at a hotel. She is wearing a pretty, yet, somewhat revealing dress. I tend to cringe at that kind of thing, especially with my boys. It wasn't even really that bad, but Ben noticed. He inquired several times: "Mom, where's her clothes?" A few minutes later when she appears in another scene with more clothing on, there was this relief in him. "There's her clothes, Mom."
I was speechless. I didn't quite know what to say. I wasn't sure what a 3 yr. old would understand about modesty. Obviously he understood more than I thought and should have used the opportunity to teach him a little more about the importance of modesty. I'm sure I'll have plenty more opportunities to talk about that with my boys. I'm going to have to be prepared a lot sooner than I thought I would. They really do notice.
My New Favorite Quote:
"All can walk where Jesus walked when, with His words on our lips, His spirit in our hearts, and His teachings in our lives, we journey through mortality. I would hope that we would walk as he walked with confidence in the future, with an abiding faith in His Father, and with a genuine love for others." President Thomas S. Monson

1 now let's hear it from you:
I've seen these plaques around that say "Modest is hottest." I think I might have to get one for Bailee.
