My New Favorite Quote:

"All can walk where Jesus walked when, with His words on our lips, His spirit in our hearts, and His teachings in our lives, we journey through mortality. I would hope that we would walk as he walked with confidence in the future, with an abiding faith in His Father, and with a genuine love for others." President Thomas S. Monson

That 'Thing'

On our long drive home from Richfield Christmas Eve night, we had an enlightening, albeit somewhat disturbing, conversation with our oldest child. When I asked them all what they were supposed to do when we got home, they replied excitedly that they were going to get their jammies on, clean up their toys and go to bed. The oldest then proceeds to inform Cory and I that we needed to hurry and do our thing and go to bed, too, so Santa could come. Um . . . Cory and I exchange looks. Thing? What thing? Does he really mean that 'thing' Cory and I are thinking he means? I had to probe a little. "What thing are you talking about?" "You know, that thing," he said,"when we're in bed, you and dad do your thing." Seriously! How is it that our kids are aware of certain late night activities? I really hope he's just thinking about how Dad and I stay up after they go to bed and work on the computer and read or do homework, brush our teeth or whatever it is we do besides that 'thing' we do. "What thing?" I vehemently insisted. "I don't know, you tell me. You know, when you're learning and Dad does his homework." Oh! That thing. Because you know, there is nothing like getting caught unawares or something. . . . Still, should I be worried?
So, when we got home, the kids promptly and excitedly got their jammies on and toys put away and went to bed. Cory and I did our Santa thing and headed to our room to do our get ready for bed thing, and Ammon was still awake. I don't know. Maybe he was just too excited to go to sleep. He only went to the bathroom a couple of times. And then, he kept insisting that we quickly turn out the lights and shut the laptop and go to bed, too, so that Santa could come. How could we argue with that?

2 now let's hear it from you:

Oh man, I actually laughed at loud when I was reading that. That is GREAT!!! I love Ammon. He is very observant. You better be careful with that one.
