My New Favorite Quote:

"All can walk where Jesus walked when, with His words on our lips, His spirit in our hearts, and His teachings in our lives, we journey through mortality. I would hope that we would walk as he walked with confidence in the future, with an abiding faith in His Father, and with a genuine love for others." President Thomas S. Monson

Les Miserables

3021_100_100

Cory got me tickets to Les Miserables at Tuacahn  for Christmas.  I waited six months to see it. I was so excited when the day arrived. I've seen the play once before at the Capitol theater in SLC and loved it. I couldn't wait for to see it at the outdoor theater. Cory's mom got to come with us.We left the kids with a babysitter and had a great time. For anyone who has not see this play, it's a must see. It is the most amazing, awesome, moving play you'll ever see. I'm not so great at reviews, but I will try.

The story is of a convict in France who is released from prison. His crime was stealling a loaf of bread to feed his starving child. He spend 19 years paying his debt and even then he could not live in peace. His life changes dramatically when the priest who took him in and fed him forgives him for stealing from him. This is when he turns his life to God and service. He breaks his parole and from then on out is running from his past and one man, a  police inspector who does not believe that Jean Valjean will ever be an honest man. If there is ever a story of true justice, this is it. It is a story about love and hate. One man decides to let love rule his life, the other hate. It really made me look inside myself. What do I let rule my life?

The stage is small, but doesn't need to be big because the music is what moves the play along. You find yourself being drawn into it emotionally. ph_lesmis_4_1I didn't want it to end.

When the finale came, it was all I could do to keep myself from jumping to my feet. It was very stirring. The cast and crew did a phenomenal job. The outdoor setting with the red rocks in the background was perfect for the mood of the play. I think I will have to see this one again, and again, and again. Would anyone like to join me?ph_lesmis_5_2

Somewhere in my years of school I missed the course on complicated stories and how to understand them. Wait. My memory is clearer now and I remember that I took the course but failed. These kind of stories just go right over my head. I think I enjoyed your summery more than I would have the play because I would not have understood it. So thanks for the summery.

I do however know the exhilaration that comes from being a part of a play. I have been to my share of them and the ones that I could understand made me want to jump for joy at the end too.

I love Les Miserable. I have seen it several times. Even having a high school put on a production of it doesn't take anything away from the story and the music. Bring Him Home is my favorite. I love it. I wish I could have come. Now, I don't dare brave the heat to see it. Maybe in september. Will it still be going on in september.

Abby, it goes through Oct. 18.
Did I forget to mention we had front row seats. Oh man! it was awesome to see it all up close like that. Bon, if you sat on the front row and really got to hear the words of the songs, you would understand it. A must see.

I LOVE the music the most. My sister named her daughter's middle name Cosette just to have the memory of the play stay with her forever. It really is fabulous! Where can I find one in Nepal????

How cool, Sharon! I'd love to see Les Mis. some day. After reading the book in high school English, I feel that sometime in my life I deserve to get to watch the play!! Remember going to Miss Saigon in LA with Erin and Marcy? That's the only thing like that I've ever gone to.

Beth, I will always remember Miss Saigon. That was awesome. You do deserve to go see Les Mis. You would love it. It's very deep and emotional. Go see it.
Mike, you need to come see it. You would love it. I don't know if there will be front row seats anymore. Cory got them for me for Christmas- 6 months in advance. You might be lucky to get tickets at all.

Wonderful! I saw it when I was going to BYU and it was playing it SLC years ago. I would love to see it with Jeremy sometime. If we could, Sharon, we'd be there in a heartbeat to see it with you for one of your agains! I've never been to Tuacahn either, which would also be fun. :-)
