My New Favorite Quote:

"All can walk where Jesus walked when, with His words on our lips, His spirit in our hearts, and His teachings in our lives, we journey through mortality. I would hope that we would walk as he walked with confidence in the future, with an abiding faith in His Father, and with a genuine love for others." President Thomas S. Monson

A Name and a Blessing

Sunday, our baby was given a name and a blessing. The name we chose for him is Dallin Loyd. Yes, I know, it's not a scripture name. Just as good, though, we gave him a name that he can be proud of. Who better to be named after than Dallin H. Oaks, a modern day apostle. He is one of my favorite (okay, so they're all my favorite). To read more about him click here. Loyd is for our nieghbor in St. George that passed away a year and a half ago. Two great men to pattern his life after. If you remember, we made up some verses for the twins to Book of Mormon Stories. Well, of course we have to do one for Dallin, too. It's a stretch, but here goes:
Dallin an apostle has been called in modern day
To teach us all about God's word and lead us in His ways
If we choose to follow them then we can happy be,
and live with God, if we live righteously.

The blessing Cory gave Dallin was beautiful. He reminded him that he was one of the righteous, valiant spirits saved to come in these last days, and he told him how much his Father in Heaven, as well as his family, love him. I cried, just a little. There was another baby blessed that same day. The spirit in the meeting was very strong, and many people felt it. There is nothing sweeter than little babies getting blessed. We had most of Cory's family there. We did miss his dad, though. Standing in the circle for the blessing were, Grandpa Gooch, Uncle Rob, Uncle Doran, Uncle Matt, Uncle Brandon, and Uncle Glen, a nieghbor and friend, Laren Dodgen and Bishop Cook.
We came back to the house for delicious navajo tacos and enjoyed the company of our family. Thank you all for your love and support on Dallin's big day.

Here are some one month pictures. He is a little sweetheart. We are trying to figure out how to break him of his bad habit of thinking he has to fall asleep being held. It doesn't work so well when we try to put him down. He just wakes up. Hopefully eventually exhaustion will set in and he'll be too tired to wake up when we lay him down.

Sleeping soundly on my chest

5 now let's hear it from you:

He is so cute!! I loved the verse. That is so cool that you teach your boys a song named after them. It was a great day and I am so glad I was there!

Wow! What a cute family you have! I can't believe you have 5 kids. :) They are all lucky to be a part of your family. I was looking at your family picture on the couch and your little boys all look like they came from the same mold, just in different sizes. I'm glad to read that you are doing well.

How adorable! What a great blessing! So, when you eventually get that bad habit "broken" please let us know how you did it... We have a two year old who could use a bit of help, too!
