My New Favorite Quote:

"All can walk where Jesus walked when, with His words on our lips, His spirit in our hearts, and His teachings in our lives, we journey through mortality. I would hope that we would walk as he walked with confidence in the future, with an abiding faith in His Father, and with a genuine love for others." President Thomas S. Monson

Conference Weekend

Christ-HomePortraitIt's here, my favorite time of year, General Conference .  Why do I love it so much? Because it's a time when we get to learn at the feet of our prophet and apostles more about the Savior, who's church this is. It's a time when I get to reflect on my life and where I stand and how I can improve in certain areas of my life. My testimony of the gospel and the Savior increase and I love the spirit I feel that uplifts and edifies. conferenceWith Cory at drill, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to sit down and really listen this time with 4 little kids wanting my constant attention. Thanks to Abby who made up laminated picture cards of the apostles and prophet, my two older kids actually did very well. I was surprised that for the most part, they sat there and let me watch and listen to the first session of conference. They thought it was really cool to try and find the picture of the apostle that was speaking. We've got three more sessions to go and I certainly don't expect them to sit with me, but we'll see how it goes. I decided I had better write down what I remember and learned from this session so that maybe I can apply it all more fully in my life.

med_Monson02-1 I love President Monson's opening remarks. He announced 5 new temples to be built. I really got a kick out of the chuckle that rippled over the audience when he announced the temple in Rome, Italy. Isn't that AWESOME! I loved that he asked us to pray for those countries that don't yet allow Christianity to be practiced that their hearts would be softened and that they would allow the church in to teach the people of those nations of our Savior. The gospel of Jesus Christ is going forth. What a great time to be here on the earth when the gospel is here in it's fullness.0

med_Perry06-1  Elder L. Tom Perry's remarks about things only getting better in the church struck me. In a world where hope is lost and wickedness abounds, it's nice to have that hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

med_Andersen01-1  Elder Neil L. Anderson made a comment that I liked: "Faith isn't just a feeling, but a decision."

med_Oaks00-1  Elder Dallin H. Oaks talked about the sacredness of participating in the ordinance of the sacrament. I want to try harder to prepare my heart and mind each Sabbath day that I more fully appreciate and understand the importance of that ordinance as it pertains to the atoning sacrifice of the Savior.

med_Uchtdorf15-12   President Deiter F. Uchtdorf t alked about hope in the Savior. What a profound talk. I hope that I can have more hope in the sacrifice He made for us and in turn increase my faith and charity.

Session #2

med_Bednar10-1  I loved Elder Bednar's talk on prayer. I am going to be more diligent in starting and ending my day with prayer.

10 now let's hear it from you:

Thanks so much for this! This was my first encounter with fall conference this year. We used your little summary during our scripture study this morning. I am dying to know the 4 other temples that are going to be built. Can't wait till I can read all the talks on the Internet!

I missed that session....tell me, tell....where are the other temples?

It is fun to watch the kids get excited to watch Pres Monson.

Canada, can't remember where. I want to say Alberta?
Kansas City
Philidelphia
Rome, Italy
Argentina
I think those are all right. I could be wrong on the Argentina.
You can go to ksl.com for the report on it.

Cordova (Cordoba?), Argentina (Si.)

Calgary, Alberta, Canada (No doubt, eh?!)

Just to be more specific.

FYI, you can go to lds.org and listen to, read, or watch any of the sessions. I watched them over the internet, although the Sunday afternoon session got cut off for me, so I still need to go back and hear the last half or so. My internet has been weird lately. Anyway, for those of you who want to listen to it, you can do it online and don't have to wait for the Ensign to read it. :-)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Sharon! I really enjoyed the Sat. afternoon session, especially Elder Bednar's talk. I also really appreciated Pres. Monson's talk at the end of the Sunday morning session. I felt like he was speaking right to me. It's so cool how that happens.

Anyway... thanks again, Sharon! :-)

Corrections: You will be able to read it online as of Thursday, but you can listen to it now or watch it. :-)

It is Cordoba, Argentina (with a b, not a v).

Have a great day! :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told by someone that the greater Kansas City area, (one of the areas for a new temple announced) includes Jackson County Mo. Anyone know if this is true?

I just looked up the counties in the greater Kasas City area, and on the Missouri side, Jackson county is included! Whoa! (I just thought I better look it up; wouldn't want to start a big crazy rumor...)

Hmmmmm... That is interesting, Shellie! I hadn't even thought of that. I'm certainly not going to start jumping to any conclusions, though, but that is interesting. :-)

I did love Conference this year! It is amazing that each talk was really inspiring to me. Like they were all talking right to me. Elder Bednar's talk really hit home and I have tried to do better with prayer.
