As boxes are packed a few at a time, I'm taken back to other moves we've made and I am realizing this is the first time I've done this on my own. I'm thinking Paulette and Sassy, where are you when I need you??? You have been there for every move since I got married (except the move down here. The army did that one).
The first move into our first apt. just so happened to be the exact same apt. that Sassy and Aaron lived in when they got married. We didn't have much stuff then, of course there were only two of us with just a few odd pieces of furniture and the necessities of living. Somehow, with as little as we had, someone still decided they wanted what we had and decided to take first my car and then whatever they could from the apt. that could be traded for cash (that's a story for another time). That led to the second move that very next day. And guess who did it all for me while I worked all day and Cory was in Iraq. Yep. Paulette and Sassy. They spent the whole day packing up all our stuff. When I got home from work, it was all ready to go. They helped me find another place to live and let me stay with them in the meantime.
Then we decided to buy a house. We found a fixer-upper that my sweet loving parents and brother and sister worked hard to help us fix up. Mom and Dad spent several days (probably more like weeks) working hard on the paint and tile as well as my dear sister, Susie, and great brother Jeremy.
Without them, we would have never been able to finish in time for our new arrival. Paulette and Sassy were there to help with the move, again. We had a few more things including a baby crib and baby clothes. We got to enjoy that house and my family's hard work for, oh, about 4 months and it was time to move again.
So, here we are, 4 kids later
and a whole lot more stuff to move. We still have the same odd pieces of furniture we started with, with a few more odd pieces added to it.
I guess we could have had the army do it again, but why rob me of this chance to learn how to do it myself (besides we get to make a little money this way)? I promise, I'm really not complaining. It's been good for me. I feel a sense of accomplishment with each box that is packed. I get to take things at my own leisure, a box here and a box there, nothing stressful at all. I may not be organized, and who knows if my valuables will make it from point A to point B in one piece, buy hey, it's not too bad. I only hope that when Matt and Abby get here with the trailer in a couple of weeks that there won't be much left to pack and all we'll need to do is load (I'll apologize now if that's not the case, Abby). All this has really made me appreciate all those who have been there to help us in the past and now, who have done and are doing so much for us. I don't think I can ever thank them enough.
I also realize there are others out there I can sympathize with or who can sympathize with me right now. My best friend Nicole is now in Oregon after two short years next door (sniff, sniff). We miss them a lot. My awesome sister Bonnie just moved from Mona to Santaquin. She's got 5 kids and a whole lot more stuff than I do. Another awesome sister, Wendy, just moved all the way from Alaska to Colorado Springs. She's got 6 kids. An old college friend, Beth is also in the moving process. She's got two kids, but 8 years worth of stuff to move (good luck, Beth). A couple of mission friends, Clint Thomsen and Dennis and Alisa Burr have plans to move soon, too. Best of luck to them. And, best of all, my parents are getting ready to move back home from Alaska. I haven't seen them for two years as they've been serving their mission. I can't wait to see them. I will be up there just in time for their arrival.
Does anyone else care to join in? I would offer you Sassy and Paulette's help because they are pro at packing and moving, but they're in Ohio. Love you guys.

5 now let's hear it from you:
Your father is as stressed over our move home as he stresses everyone else's moves and that is after all of the practice we have had. It is definitely part of the maturing process. Best of luck, daughter. May the "force" be with you. Love WoW(Wonderful Old Woman) and Dad
Boy, that Sassy and Paulette must be pretty amazing people!! You are pretty lucky to have friends like that....(wink wink)!! I wish I was there to help tihs time. You probably wouldn't want me there right now anyway. We wouldn't get much done with 8 kids 5 and under!!
I never got to see pics of your first home. It looks great. Have fun with the move. I don't envy you. I wish I could be there to help...
Sassy and Paulette are awesome friends. They are with you in Spirit. If anything about this move is good, it is that you have had the opportunity to take a stroll down memory lane. And what great memories they are.
Iknow it is a couple weeks late but I totally sympathize with you. I moved 3 times last year and my husband is all about getting more money from the army so we did a "Do It Yourself" move each time. Fun times and I don't really know if it is really worth the trouble. Where are you moving to or from?
