The salsa debacle -
This doesn't even begin to show you the mess
Lessons learned this weekend while making salsa:
#1. When you try to multi-task, something is always bound to go wrong.
#2. Always, always make sure there is enough water in the hot-bather.
#3. Turn the temperature down when water starts to boil. Leaving it on high will boil out all your water.
#4. Don't get so busy you don't stop and take time to listen to that still small voice that says, 'hey, you might want to put some more water in that. Hey, you may want to turn the stove down now that you have that boiling.'
#5. That is not a noise I want to ever hear again.
#6. That is not a mess I ever want to see again.
#7. The most important lesson learned -Despite ignoring those warnings, the Lord is merciful and He was watching out for us. While surveying the damage, we are ever so grateful and mindful that He kept all of us who were in the kitchen, little kids included, from harm. Thankfully, Bonnie managed to escape injury despite the hot salsa splattered all over her face.
We still got to eat our egg rolls and Natasha still got to take some of her salsa home.
I might be able to laugh about this now.

6 now let's hear it from you:
Yes, you can laugh now. I was feeling kind of bumbed yesterday that I didn't have any battle wounds to show for it. JK not really. That picture by the stove was AFTER we cleaned the wall behind the stove and the fridge next to it. It was everywhere. And the shards of glass you see in the pot, we were finding those all over the kitchen. Not a sound or mess I ever want to see/hear again.
Scary! Glad everyone is OK.
I couldn't help myself and already opened one jar - IT WAS GOOOOD! Trying salsa got us all excited for the pickles :) If you want more pictures, let me know your email. I doubt I'll be blogging any time soon. It was good to hang out with you, and learn!
That was after some clean up!!! Pictures don't do justice! Just finished eating the egg rolls. Had them for dinner and then lunch the past 2 days! SOOOOO GOOD! It was a lot of fun though!
So glad no one was hurt! Despite the mess, it's a good Holy Ghost story!
Wow, glad I didn't have to clean that one up! Don't you have the water level one inch ABOVE the jars to begin with??
I hate when jars break in the canner! I've had at least one break every season of canning. Not fun.
